How to buy
Buying property in the Dominican Republic
Seven steps, from choosing the property to the title in your name.

Find the right property
Land, a vacation home, a business or a development site: weigh the location, access, utilities, zoning and the growth of the area.

Hire a real estate attorney
A local lawyer verifies ownership and the history of the title, reviews the contracts and confirms the taxes are paid.

Due diligence
Ownership records, boundaries, liens, property taxes, access and easements, zoning and the environment — checked before you commit.

Sign the purchase agreement
Price, deposit, closing timeline and conditions, in writing; the agreement says when the deposit is refundable and when it is not.

Transfer of ownership
The documents are signed, the funds transferred and the ownership recorded with the government authorities.

Closing costs and taxes
Government transfer fees, legal fees and registration; the amount depends on the property and its price.

Receive your title
Once registered, you receive legal proof that the property is recorded in your name.
We guide buyers from the first inquiry through closing: finding the property, and introductions to independent Dominican attorneys whom you engage yourself.
